Europe’s senior tour undergoes name change

Legends Tour for 50-and-older golfers will be led by Ryan Howsam, the head of U.K. insurer Staysure, the tour’s former title sponsor

Renamed: The European senior tour, as the Legends Tour, officials announced in a news release this week. The tour, formerly known as the Staysure Tour, will be overseen by Ryan Howsam, the founder and CEO of Staysure, a British travel-insurance broker that had title-sponsored Europe’s senior tour for golfers 50-and-older since December 2017. This year, the tour’s entire schedule was canceled because of the global coronavirus pandemic. Under the agreement, Howsam will take a majority equity share in the tour and oversee its commercial strategy. The 2021 schedule was not announced. There also is a Legends Tour in the U.S. It is the circuit established for senior female touring professionals and affiliated with the LPGA.
