New world No. 1 Dustin Johnson heads loaded field for 2nd stop of PGA Tour’s season-ending playoffs
The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will assemble at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club’s North Course this week for the BMW Championship, the second leg of the PGA Tour’s season-ending playoffs.
Dustin Johnson, coming off of a dominating 11-stroke victory at the Northern Trust, moved to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking and the FedEx Cup standings and will headline the field. Justin Thomas, the BMW’s defending champion, will enter Thursday’s first round at No. 2 in the season standings and No. 3 in the world. Thomas has won three times this season among 10 top-10 finishes.
After Sunday’s final round, the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings will advance to the season-ending Tour Championship next week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
