LPGA cuts another stop on its 2020 schedule

The Kia Classic will not be played in September in California, the women’s tour announces, without any explanation

Canceled: By the LPGA, the Kia Classic, which had been scheduled for Sept. 24-27 at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, Calif., the tour announced in a brief statement. The tournament originally had been scheduled for March but was postponed until the fall because of the global coronavirus pandemic. The LPGA did not elaborate as to why the tournament was canceled but indicated that it will be on the 2021 schedule, in its customary March slot. The cancellation of the Kia Classic was the third tournament scrapped in recent days, after the LPGA cut two legs of its four-stop Asia Swing in the fall. The tour lists 11 events through the end of 2020 on its revised schedule.
