20th edition of the pro-am, which features St. Andrews’ Old Course and 2 other Scottish links, falls victim to coronavirus concerns
Canceled: By the European Tour, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the tour announced Monday in a news release, citing complications from the global coronavirus pandemic. The 20th edition of the pro-am event was scheduled for Oct. 1-4 at three Scottish courses: St. Andrews’ Old Course, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. The statement referenced “the size and complexity of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, played over three courses with 168 professionals and 168 amateurs” as having hindered a safe operation of the tournament. The event, similar to the PGA Tour’s annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am, attracts celebrities and athletes.
