2 sites win reprieves for canceled USGA events

U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur will be played in 2021 at the sites that lost out this year to the coronavirus pandemic

Announced: By the USGA, that the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur and the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur tournaments, which were canceled this year, will be played at the sites next year where they had been scheduled in 2020. Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, S.C., will host the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur on Sept. 25-30, and The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Ala., will be the site of the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur on Sept. 10-15. The tournaments were among nine USGA annual events canceled this year because of the global coronavirus pandemic. Only four tournaments remain on the USGA’s revised 2020 schedule: U.S. Women’s Amateur on Aug. 3-9 at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.; U.S. Amateur on Aug. 10-16 at Bandon (Ore.) Dunes Golf Resort; U.S. Open on Sept. 17-20 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y.; and the U.S. Women’s Open on Dec. 10-13 at Champions Golf Club in Houston.
