Champions Tour books extended stay at Big Cedar Lodge

The Charles Schwab Series will feature back-to-back 54-hole tournaments next month at the home of the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf in Missouri's Ozarks; meanwhile, the Principal Charity Classic was canceled 'in the interest of health and safety'

Announced: By the Champions Tour, that two new tournaments will be played in consecutive weeks next month at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Mo. The Charles Schwab Series at Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge will be played Aug. 19-21 at Buffalo Ridge Golf Course, followed by the Charles Schwab Series at Ozarks National on Aug. 24-26 at Ozarks National Golf Course. The 54-hole events will be the third and fourth, respectively, on the 50-and-older tour’s revised schedule in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Big Cedar Lodge in the Ozark Mountains of southwest Missouri has hosted the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf since 2014. Also on Thursday, the Principal Charity Classic, which was to have been played Sept. 4-6 at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, announced on its website that "in the interest of health and safety" the tournament has been canceled. The Champions Tour will resume play at The Ally Challenge on July 31-Aug. 2 at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, Mich. Play on the tour has been suspended since March 8. Because of the global coronavirus pandemic, the Champions Tour had announced that its tournaments in 2020 and 2021 would combine to form one season, with the next Charles Schwab Cup champion to be crowned in November 2021 at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
