Another Ivy League school cuts golf programs

1 day after Ivy League suspends all fall sports, Dartmouth disbands its men’s and women golf teams, following a similar move by league member Brown

Announced: By Dartmouth College, that it will eliminate five sports, including men’s and women’s golf, and close its university-owned golf course. The news comes one day after the Ivy League, of which Dartmouth is a member, scrapped all fall sports for the coming season. In a news release Thursday, Dartmouth, a private school in Hanover, N.H., said it was taking steps to “address budget challenges, including a projected $150 million financial deficit brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.” The school also will close Hanover Country Club, which is owned and operated by the university. Dartmouth joins league member Brown in having eliminated men’s and women’s golf this year.
