USGA reveals exemptions for U.S. Women’s Open

After qualifying was canceled because of coronavirus, USWO expands list of exempt players for Dec. 10-13 tournament

Disclosed: By the USGA, exemptions for the U.S. Women’s Open, which will not have qualifying this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. The announcement, issued Wednesday via a news release, comes one week after the USGA declared a similar set of standards for its all-exempt U.S. Open men’s tournament. The 156-player USWO field will include the top 75 points leaders and ties from the Rolex Rankings as of March 16. (The LPGA, which has been suspended from competition since mid-February, is scheduled to resume play July 31.) The top 30 in the LPGA’s 2019 season points standings also will be exempt. The full list of exemptions can be found here. The 75th U.S. Women’s Open will be played Dec. 10-13 at Champions Golf Club in Houston.
