2020 Colonial: Latest betting odds for PGA Tour’s return

Rory McIlroy rates as 8-1 pick to win Colonial, with Jon Rahm as the 2nd choice at 12-1 and Justin Thomas listed at 16-1, according to Golfodds.com

Just days before the PGA Tour is set to restart its season, Rory McIlroy remained the betting favorite Monday to win the Tour’s first tournament in three months.

McIlroy was listed as an 8-1 choice by Golfodds.com to win the Charles Schwab Challenge, which begins Thursday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. McIlroy, a Northern Irishman who is No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking and a four-time major champion, posted six consecutive finishes of fifth place or better this season on the PGA Tour, including a victory in November in Shanghai. The PGA Tour has been idled since March 12, when the Players Championship was canceled after the first round because of the widening coronavirus pandemic.

Spain’s Jon Rahm, who follows McIlroy in the world ranking at No. 2, also was the second choice of oddsmakers, at 12-1, to win Colonial. American Justin Thomas was the third pick, at 16-1. Americans Bryson DeChambeau and Webb Simpson were next, at 25-1. American Kevin Na, the defending champion, was a 60-1 choice.

The Colonial field is loaded with most of the top players in the world because of pent-up demand for competition after a three-month shutdown. Fifteen of the top 20 players in the world, including the top five – McIlroy, Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Thomas and Dustin Johnson – are entered. Nos. 1-2-3 will be paired together.
