Border restrictions and mandatory quarantines for visitors to Canada prompt Mackenzie Tour to cancel what would have been a record number of events
Canceled: By the Mackenzie Tour, the 2020 season on the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit in Canada, officials announced Friday in a news release. Citing border restrictions and mandatory quarantines for visitors entering Canada as foremost among issues relating to the coronavirus pandemic, the Canadian tour scrapped its 13-tournament season. The schedule, which would have included stops in six Canadian provinces and Minnesota, would have featured the most tournaments played in the tour’s eighth season of operation. Status for tour members in 2021 will be based on Order of Merit results from the 2019 season, with the top 60 players exempt, the tour announced.
