LPGA shuffles its fall schedule

The Meijer LPGA Classic has been canceled, and the ShopRite LPGA Classic, which had been postponed, will move into the vacated week in early October

Canceled: By the LPGA, the Meijer LPGA Classic, because of the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the tour announced Wednesday in a news release. The tournament had been scheduled for Oct. 1-4 at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich. With the news, the ShopRite LPGA Classic, which had been postponed from its original date in May, will move into the week vacated by the Meijer LPGA. The ShopRite event will be played Oct. 2-4 at Seaview’s Bay Course in Galloway, N.J. The LPGA is scheduled to resume its season July 23-26 with the Marathon Classic in Sylvania, Ohio. The women’s tour has played four tournaments in 2020 and has not competed since Feb. 16. The LPGA has 20 more events on its revised schedule.
