Korea Open falls victim to resurgent coronavirus

Tournament's past winners include major champions Vijay Singh, John Daly, Sergio Garcia and Orville Moody, plus Rickie Fowler

Canceled: By the Korea Golf Association, its flagship event, the Korea Open, for the first time in the tournament’s 62-year history. Organizers cited a recurrence of the coronavirus pandemic in east Asia for their decision. The tournament, which was co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, was scheduled for June 25-28 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, South Korea. The Korea Open’s list of past champions includes PGA Tour stars Rickie Fowler (2011), Vijay Singh (2007), John Daly (2003), Sergio Garcia (2002), K.J. Choi (1996, 1999), Scott Hoch (1990, 1991) and the late Orville Moody (1958, 1959, 1960), who won the first three editions while serving in the Army.
