South African, a 2-time Presidents Cup participant and former Masters champion, will seek to halt American dominance in biennial series
Named: By the PGA Tour, Trevor Immelman as captain of the International team for the 2021 Presidents Cup, officials announced Tuesday. Immelman, 40, of South Africa, won eight times on major professional tours worldwide, highlighted by the 2008 Masters title. He played in the 2005 and 2007 Presidents Cups and served as an assistant to Ernie Els in the 2019 matches. The 2021 Presidents Cup is scheduled for Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. The U.S. captain has not been announced. The Internationals trail in the biennial series, 11-1-1, including eight consecutive losses by an average of 4½ points.
