USGA delays entry deadline for top amateur events

Men’s and women’s amateurs, boys and girls juniors will retain qualifying and tournament dates as coronavirus continues to affect golf season, association announces

Delayed: By the USGA, entry deadlines for four of its top amateur championships scheduled for this summer, the association announced Friday via Twitter, citing the coronavirus pandemic. Entries for the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Women’s Amateur, U.S. Junior Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior will be delayed until the week of April 27. The schedule of qualifying dates and sites will remain the same, the USGA announced in another tweet. The U.S. Girls’ Junior (July 13-18 at Air Force Academy’s Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colo.), U.S. Junior Amateur (July 20-25 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.), U.S. Women’s Amateur (Aug. 3-9 at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.) and the U.S. Amateur (Aug. 10-16 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.) highlight the core of the USGA’s competition calendar.
