Augusta National resets Drive, Chip and Putt

Youth skills contest will move to 2021, with this year’s qualifiers eligible for same age divisions next year

The Drive, Chip and Putt national tournament, which Augusta National (Ga.) Golf Club recently postponed, will not be held in 2020, the club announced Friday, citing the coronavirus pandemic. The event, which emphasizes three key skills areas for boys and girls ages 7-15, had been staged on the Sunday before the Masters since its debut in 2014. Instead, the club said that the qualifiers for this year’s event will be able to compete in the 2021 final, set for April 4, in the same age division for which they qualified this year. As a result, the club canceled what would have been the regional qualifiers for next year’s event. The club postponed the Masters, which was scheduled for April 9-12, but has not announced a new date.
