Jay Monahan declines to be paid multimillion-dollar salary during pandemic, and other top executives also take hits, Golfweek reports
Declined: By PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, his pay during the coronavirus pandemic, Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch reported. Monahan said he would decline his salary during the crisis, and other top executives will accept 25-percent salary reductions, the magazine’s website reported. Monahan was paid $3.9 million, including bonuses and incentives in 2017, Golfweek reported, citing the Tour’s latest public filing as a tax-exempt organization. Since Monahan canceled the Players Championship on March 12 after the first round, the Tour has halted play through at least late May plus shut down tournaments on its five developmental tours as the pandemic widens.
