A decision about how to proceed with the Tokyo Games will be made within 4 weeks, according to the International Olympic Committee
Established: By the International Olympic Committee, a four-week deadline to decide how to proceed with the Tokyo Games in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In an IOC news release issued Sunday, the committee said it will gather information from national Olympic committees regarding the effect of the pandemic on training and make “the best decision in the interest of the athletes and everyone else involved.” The games are scheduled to begin July 24. Recently, the U.S. track and swimming divisions called for a postponement. IOC president Thomas Bach has said the games will not be canceled. Men’s golf is scheduled for July 30-Aug. 2, and women’s golf will be played the next week, on Aug. 5-8, both at Kasumigaseki Country Club near Tokyo.
