LPGA loses 3 more events to coronavirus

Women’s tour already had canceled its 3-stop Asia Swing but intends to reschedule the 3 postponed U.S. tournaments

On hold: Three tournaments on the upcoming LPGA schedule, the tour announced late Thursday in a response to the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier this year, the LPGA canceled its three-event Asia Swing. The latest move affects the Volvik Founders Cup in Phoenix, which was scheduled for next week; the Kia Classic in Carlsbad, Calif., which had been set for March 26-29; and the season’s first major championship, the ANA Inspiration, on April 2-5 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The LPGA said in a news release that it intends to reschedule the events at undetermined dates in 2020. The LPGA also postponed two developmental-tour events set for the coming weeks in California: IOA Championship in Beaumont on March 27-29 and the Windsor Golf Classic in Windsor on April 2-4.
