Winner of inaugural tournament, to be played Sept. 3-6 in Buenos Aires, will earn a spot in the 2021 Women’s British Open
Announced: By the R&A, the Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship, to be played Sept. 3-6 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The inaugural 72-hole event will be played on the Blue and White nines at Pilar Golf in the Argentine capital. The 60 players will be drawn from the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking. The tournament follows the R&A’s launch of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific event in 2018. The winner of the WALAC will win an exemption into the 2021 Women’s British Open. The WALAC’s counterpart, the men’s Latin America Amateur Championship, debuted in 2015 and offers its winner exemptions into the Masters, U.S. Amateur, British Amateur and, beginning this year, the British Open.
