The Tour’s 2nd playoff event will rotate out of the Chicago area to the suburban Baltimore club, officials announced
Announced: By the Western Golf Association, that the 2021 BMW Championship will be played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mill, Md. The BMW, which is the second of three events in the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs, will rotate out of the Chicago area after this year’s event. The 2020 BMW Championship, which will attract the top 70 on the Tour’s season points list who will compete for 30 spots in the Tour Championship, is scheduled for Aug. 20-23 at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club. The WGA runs the BMW and in the past decade has moved it beyond the Chicago area every other year. The event benefits the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides scholarships to caddies. Caves Valley has not hosted a PGA Tour event, but the course in the suburbs northwest of Baltimore has been the scene of many of golf’s biggest tournaments. The 1991 Tom Fazio design played host to the 1995 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 2002 U.S. Senior Open, 2005 NCAA Division I men’s championship, 2007 Palmer Cup, 2009 NCAA Division I women’s championship, the LPGA’s inaugural International Crown in 2014 and the 2017 Senior Players Championship.
