Manitoba Open resurfaces in Canada

Historic name of provincial event is restored to annual Mackenzie Tour tournament

Resurrected: The name Manitoba Open, for the annual Mackenzie Tour stop in Winnipeg, Manitoba, officials with the Canadian developmental tour announced. The provincial open was named the Manitoba Open from 1919 to 1997. In recent years, it was known as the Players Cup. Also for this year’s event, which will be played Aug. 13-16 at Southwood Golf and Country Club, Winnipeg Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey has been granted an exemption. It will be the third consecutive year in which a player from Winnipeg’s NHL team has been invited.
