Struggling women’s tour boosts prize fund by nearly $5 million from 2019 after agreement with LPGA and European men’s associations
Released: By the Ladies European Tour, its 2020 schedule, which features a record prize fund of nearly €18 million (about $19.5 million), an increase of €4.5 million (about $4.96 million) from 2019, the LET announced Friday. The 24-tournament schedule will include 15 events in Europe. The season begins next month with the Australian Ladies Classic Bonville and ends with the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino in November. The LET, which has struggled in recent years to create a robust schedule and keep the continent’s top players competing at home, recently announced a joint association with the LPGA, European Tour and R&A (“Finally, some hope for Ladies European Tour,” Jan. 21).
