Former British Amateur champion faces lopsided history against U.S. in Walker Cup
Named: By the R&A as its captain for Great Britain and Ireland’s men’s amateur teams, Scotland’s Stuart Wilson. He will lead GB&I against Europe’s top amateurs in the St. Andrews Trophy on July 23-24 at Royal Porthcawl in Wales. A year later, Stuart will face his biggest test when his GB&I team visits the U.S. for the 2021 Walker Cup against the Americans at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla., on May 8-9. Wilson, 42, won the 2003 Lytham Trophy and the 2004 British Amateur. GB&I has not won the biennial Walker Cup when it has been played in the U.S. since 2001. The U.S. leads the series, 37-9-1.
