Lance Barrow, who had headed the network’s golf coverage since 1997, will leave at the end of the 2020 season
Resigned: Lance Barrow, the longtime producer of CBS Sports’ golf telecasts, effective at the end of the network’s 2020 season, CBS announced. Barrow, who replaced the late Frank Chirkinian as CBS’ coordinating producer in 1997, is only the second person to oversee the network’s golf coverage. Sellers Shy will succeed Barrow as the lead golf producer. Shy, who joined CBS Sports full-time in 1997, is expected to increase his duties as a golf producer this year as part of the transition, the network said in a news release. Barrow traces his origins with the network most closely associated with its Masters coverage to 1976, when he started as a spotter/researcher for the late Pat Summerall. Barrow earned 12 Emmy Awards for his work at CBS. The news comes after two high-profile dismissals among CBS Sport’s golf-reporting crew. The network announced in October that the contracts of broadcasters Gary McCord and Peter Kostis would not be renewed. Later, CBS added major champions Davis Love III, Trevor Immelman and Michelle Wie to its on-air staff.
