CBS adds Wie, Immelman to golf broadcasts

Major champions will join Davis Love III as network reshapes on-air talent after dumping Peter Kostis, Gary McCord

Hired: By CBS for its golf broadcasting team, major champions Michelle Wie and Trevor Immelman, the network announced. The hires follow the recent addition of Davis Love III after CBS let go longtime commentators Peter Kostis and Gary McCord. Wie and Immelman offer recent experience with Golf Channel. Wie served as a studio guest analyst during the Solheim Cup, and Immelman has made numerous appearances recently as an analyst. Wie, 30, whose five LPGA victories include the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open, struggled with injuries in recent years. Her role was not defined by CBS. Immelman, 39, whose eight worldwide victories on major professional tours include the 2008 Masters, will contribute analysis during the PGA Tour, Masters and PGA Championship telecasts. Andrew Catalon, Frank Nobilo, Dottie Pepper and Mark Immelman, Trevor’s brother, also will see increased responsibilities for 2020, the network announced. Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo, Ian Baker-Finch and Amanda Balionis will return to their on-air roles. CBS will make its 2020 debut at the Farmers Insurance Open on Jan. 23-26 in San Diego. The network’s contract with the PGA Tour ends in 2021.
