Announced: By the USGA and R&A, that its joint World Handicap System will be launched beginning in January and roll out across the world as the golf season unfolds. The new handicap index was designed to provide golfers with a unified handicap system via a consistent measure of playing ability and handicaps calculated in the same way worldwide. The U.S. and Canada will be among the first nations to introduce the WHS, in January. Great Britain and Ireland will be among the last nations, with their rollouts scheduled for the fall months.
