Curtis Strange, a 2-time U.S. Open winner, tells Hawk & Purk that golf without fans might be in our future
Curtis Strange, a two-time U.S. Open winner, joined co-hosts John Hawkins and Mike Purkey in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic to discuss the uncertainty that lies ahead for golf. “The U.S. Open is not that far in the future. I really don’t see us playing because of the location and that it’s in June. … Would you try to play with no fans? I don’t know if that sends the right message out to the rest of the world or not. It’s certainly something that could be considered, and if you do it properly maybe work out for a lot of people.” Strange tackles other topics, including whether the model for televised golf is broken.
