A wakeup call from Pennsylvania to PGA Tour marketers

Tour misses chance to promote hottest name in game by blocking Bryson DeChambeau’s ingenuity at TPC Sawgrass, reader contends

I disagree wholeheartedly with the PGA Tour’s decision to change the rules and make TPC Sawgrass’ No. 9 fairway out of bounds from the 18th tee after Bryson DeChambeau suggested he might go that route during the Players Championship (“PGA Tour to Bryson DeChambeau: You’re out of bounds,” March 10).

Don’t tell me that it was a safety issue; I don’t buy that.

Though DeChambeau is not my favorite player, he is the story on the PGA Tour right now. Why would you not let him give it a shot?

The marketing department at the PGA Tour was asleep on this one.
