Reader calls Concession’s link to Bradenton out of bounds

Florida club that hosts WGC Workday is nowhere near Bradenton, contends reader, who touts golf options of nearby Lakewood Ranch

The Concession Golf Club, site of this week’s WGC Workday Championship, is located in the very eastern edge of Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Bradenton is nearby to the west/northwest, yet Morning Read identifies the course as being in Bradenton.

Concession is east of I -75, and no part of Bradenton touches anywhere near I-75. It would be like saying Westchester Country Club (where the PGA Tour's former Westchester Classic, later known as the Buick Classic and then The Barclays, was played for years) is in New York City. Or Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. It’s not Columbus but rather Dublin.

Bradenton does not have one decent golf course. Lakewood Ranch has many wonderful courses. Last week, the up-and-coming future PGA Tour players competed at Lakewood Ranch National, a course west of Concession. I live on a group of three great courses, all designed by the late Arnold Palmer's group.

Bradenton is the spring home of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tropicana’s juice plant, not golf.

Clock is ticking on CBS and Baker-Finch
At the end of CBS’ telecast of the Genesis Invitational on Sunday, Jim Nantz said, “See you at the Masters.”

That gives CBS six weeks to figure out how to shut up Ian Baker-Finch.
