Lack of Love creates chance for CBS to find Mr. (or Ms.) Right

Golf fans deserve something better than the commercial-laden, endless self-promotion that the network delivers. Isn’t that right, Dottie?

So, now Davis Love III will concentrate on his playing career (“Davis Love III pulls plug on TV career,” July 30). His time at CBS flew by, and to this observer was rather uneventful. The occasions that he contributed seemed few and far between.

What now? CBS golf telecasts never were fun to watch, with so many commercial breaks and the endless self-promotion of what’s on tonight. We, as PGA Tour fans, deserve better. It has been expressed by many contributors to Morning Read’s “From the inbox” department that the on-air talent is sorely lacking.

When will the network get the message?

How many times do we have to hear Ian Baker-Finch say, “That’s right, Dottie”?

Will CBS pluck another famous player of standing or can the network take a chance with someone who has an opinion and not be afraid to express it?
