Full-body mobility: Squat to overhead reach

August 11, 2020 11:00 AM

The Squat to Overhead Reach exercise is an excellent way to activate full-body mobility and stability—using only a golf club. As you do this exercise, remember that everyone has varying levels of mobility, so only go as far as your body allows. Also be sure to pay attention to the incorrect techniques Bill outlines in this video so you can avoid them yourself.

Throughout this exercise, you’ll be activating your gluteal muscles (which will help increase power and distance in your golf swing) and you’ll also be working the range of motion in your shoulders (which will help increase the range of motion in your swing). Beyond being a great exercise specific to your golf game, this also carries over into many activities in daily life.

Key Takeaways:

  • Great exercise for golf and daily life
  • Involves full-body mobility and stability
  • Activates powerful gluteal muscles = increased distance
  • Increases range of motion in shoulders = increased swing range of motion
