Both Sides of the Ball

How the memory of a fallen U.S. soldier launched a golf foundation

Both Sides of the Ball

Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Air Force Reserve and a PGA professional, has combined his love and admiration for golf, military service and flying to create the Folds of Honor Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty.

Rooney, who played golf at the University of Kansas, tells hosts Bo Van Pelt and Farrell Evans the story of how an experience with the family of a fallen soldier led him to start Folds of Honor, which has awarded approximately 24,500 scholarships since its inception in 2007.
