Number of players who have won three major titles in one season on the Champions Tour: Bernhard Langer (2017), Jack Nicklaus (1991) and Gary Player (1988). Steve Stricker is bidding to join the group at the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship, which begins today at Firestone Country Club’s South Course in Akron, Ohio. Stricker, 53, who is dividing his time between the PGA Tour and the 50-and-older circuit, won the Regions Tradition and the U.S. Senior Open titles this season (tee times).

13

Number of times, in 33 previous editions, that Americans have won the LPGA’s Marathon Classic, the most of any country. However, no American has won the tournament since Paula Creamer, in 2008. Play begins today at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio (tee times).

Number of consecutive cuts that defending champion Michael Kim has missed entering the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic, which begins today at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. In fact, Kim’s missed-cut streak could be even longer. His only Sunday round this year came via a T-32 finish – tied for last – at the 33-man, no cut Sentry Tournament of Champions. Two MCs preceded his last-place showing in Hawaii. And before that, he finished 76th and 62nd in no-cut, limited-field events in Asia in the fall. Kim, an American who will turn 26 on Sunday, shot 27-under 257 last year at the Deere to win by eight strokes (tee times).

Number of years since David Duval has played in a PGA Tour developmental-series event. In 1994, Duval, whose 13 PGA Tour victories include the 2001 British Open, earned a promotion to the big tour via what was then known as the Nike Tour. Duval, 47, has made four starts this season on the PGA Tour: three missed cuts and a withdrawal. Duval will be preparing for next week’s British Open with a start at the TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes, about an hour from his home, at TPC Colorado in Berthoud, Colo. (tee times).
