Number of strokes under par that Tiger Woods finished at the Farmers Insurance Open in his first PGA Tour start in a year. Woods shot 72-71-70-72–285, seven strokes back, at Torrey Pines’ South Course in San Diego. Woods, 42, returned to competition after disk-fusion surgery, his fourth back operation, and a DUI arrest that resulted in a reckless-driving plea and probation. Number of birdies made on the final six holes by Haotong Li as he held off Rory McIlroy for a one-stroke victory in the European Tour’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Li and McIlroy, playing in the final group at Emirates Golf Club, birdied the final two holes as each shot 3-under 69. Li, 22, of China, finished at 23-under 265 for his second victory on the European Tour. McIlroy, 28, a four-time major champion and former world No. 1 from Northern Ireland, held a two-stroke lead after 10 holes but made bogeys at Nos. 11 and 16 before matching Li’s birdies on Nos. 17 and 18. Number of playoff holes that Jason Day and Alex Noren played – three of them with matching birdies – before darkness intervened in the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, extending the playoff until an 11 a.m. EST restart today. Day and Noren had tied with Ryan Palmer at 10-under 278 after 72 holes at Torrey Pines’ South Course in San Diego. Palmer was eliminated on the first playoff hole. Noren, 35, of Sweden, is looking for his first triumph on the PGA Tour, after nine victories in Europe. Time, in minutes and seconds, according to Golf Channel, that it took J.B. Holmes to play his second shot on the par-5 18th hole Sunday in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines’ South Course in San Diego. Holmes, who trailed the leaders by two strokes at the time, ultimately hit a layup shot and eventually made birdie, finishing one stroke out of a three-man playoff (scores: http://bit.ly/2wE1lpy).

Number of career LPGA victories for American Brittany Lincicome, who repeated as champion in the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic, the season-opening event on the women’s tour. Lincicome, 32, birdied four of the last five holes to shoot 7-under 66, the second-best round of the tournament, and post a 12-under 207 total. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes because of excessive wind earlier in the week. Taiwan’s Wei-Ling Hsu (68) finished second at 10-under 209 (scores: http://bit.ly/1zkYSEX).

Final-round score for Garrett Barber, who won the Jones Cup Invitational in a one-hole playoff against Theo Humphrey. Barber, a high school senior and LSU signee from Stuart, Fla., survived a two-stroke swing on the final hole of regulation at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga. He made bogey from a fairway bunker at the 480-yard par 4 while Humphrey, a Vanderbilt senior from Greenwich, Conn., holed a 4-foot birdie putt to tie at 4-under 212.
